In one of the more unusual scenes in recent European tech history, around thirty robots marched through the streets of Warsaw on September 7, 2026, to campaign for stronger regulation of artificial intelligence and robotics.
The demonstration, organized by an initiative called Democratism, took place in front of Poland’s Ministry of Digital Affairs. The robots—a mix of bipedal humanoids and dog-like quadrupeds—waved flags, marched in circles, and broadcast slogans through loudspeakers including “Defend workplaces,” “Time for rules,” and “Don’t wait, regulate”.
A Deliberate Use of Technology
Grzegorz Kulis, one of the organizers, explained that the choice to use actual robots for the protest was intentional. “The robots present here are meant to show that this technology is already a reality,” said Agibot A3, one of the AI-powered humanoid robots participating in the demonstration.
“We particularly want to address the issue of the potential replacement of people both by humanoid robots and by artificial intelligence in cognitive work,” Kulis told AFP. “If we don’t react now, we may soon have a problem”.
Kulis emphasized the need for “rules and regulations that would serve as a shield protecting workers.” He noted that the robots’ ability to move freely and “protest” demonstrated how quickly robotics technology has advanced.
