Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced significant leadership changes in an email to employees. Demis Hassabis will become Chair of Google DeepMind and Chief Scientist of Alphabet, while continuing to lead Isomorphic Labs. Koray Kavukcuoglu, current CTO of Google DeepMind, will step up as SVP of Google DeepMind, overseeing Gemini model development, Frontier AI research, and the Gemini app and developer teams.
After 27 years at Google, Jeff Dean is leaving to launch an independent public benefit corporation with Google Senior Fellow Sanjay Ghemawat, focused on accelerating discoveries in ML, science, and engineering. Pichai said Google will serve as a founding investor and Cloud partner.
